Canceled Manila Conference Updates

February 21, 2020

The International School of Manila (ISM) is taking the lead on issuing refunds, as they are the institution that collected the funds.

  • ISM stated yesterday (February 20, 2020) that refunds would begin in a few weeks. As a reminder, if you paid by PayPal (credit card), no further action is required to receive your refund.
  • If you paid by invoice, ISM needs you to complete this form so they can collect your bank information to do the electronic funds transfer (EFT).

The SENIA Board is working on ways to bring the learning missed from Manila to you virtually – stay tuned for more details!

As a way to offset the processing fee deduction imposed during the refund process, SENIA is sending those affected by the conference cancellation a $30 coupon to be applied at the next conference.

As we mentioned this week, the Annual SENIA Conference will take place earlier in the school year on December 4-6, 2020 at Chadwick International School in Incheon, Korea!  Looking ahead, we hope to see many of you at one of the SENIA events offered during the 2020-21 school year!

February 4, 2020

The International School Manila (ISM) has drafted a letter that better explains the next steps for conference reimbursement. All SENIA 2020 participants should have received this via email  yesterday.

The letter states that ISM will be offering a partial refund, less the fees from Eventbrite,PayPal and a processing fee of USD $30.They will be sending a Google forms to those that paid by invoice to collect bank information for the Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) in order to complete the refund process. Those who paid by PayPal, will be issued a refund via PayPal and they hope to begin that process in due course.

In addition, this letter can serve as documentation to support the cancellation of hotel and air reservations.

Here is a copy of that letter.

Thank you again for your patience as we navigate these unexpected circumstances.

SENIA continues to monitor the potential impact the novel coronavirus has on the conference.

We wanted to alert you of a change we received this afternoon regarding travel for Chinese nationals to the Philippines. If you are a Chinese passport holder, and planned to apply for a visa on arrival, we regret to inform you that the Philippines government has suspended this service due to the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus.

Refunds will be provided to Chinese nationals because the country of the Philippines has stated that they will not be issuing visas on arrival for these individuals. We will continue to revise this list based on the current information available.
